MP3 Download Tutorial

Here are directions on how to Download MP3s from sites such as IMEEM, YouTube etc.
Although there are sites that do many of these steps for you, these are do it yourself instructions.
A short video tutorial is available here .
What you'll need:

Step #1  Open Firefox and clear the cache. (see bottom of page for directions and explanation)
Next go to a page with something you want to download and wait for it load completely.

1

Step #2  Click Tools and then CacheViewer. Click on the Column called Size a few times until the biggest number is on top. This is the biggest file
on the page (which should be a song or video). The name of the file is just a jumble of letters so you can't identify which one it is just by looking at it.

2

Step #3  Right click the biggest file and  select Save As...

3

Step #4  Pick a place to put the file. Somewhere easy to access for now.  In the filename box will be a very long name.

4

Step #5  Change that long name to something more friendly. Keep the ".flv" extension at the end of the filename.

5

Step #6  You will now see the FLV file on the desktop. Open FLV Extract and check Audio to get the audio from the FLV file and turn it into an MP3.

6

Step #7  Drag the file into the grey box. This will get the MP3 from inside the flv file automatically.

7

Step #8  A green check mark means everything went ok.  The MP3 file is now on your desktop and ready for listening.  Click OK to close the window.

8

And there you have it.  IMeem will give you better quality MP3s than YouTube so if all you want is audio try it find it on IMeem first.  ENJOY

Glossary and Explanations

FLV
A file that holds (wraps) video and audio files(mp3)
Extract
To take the audio or video files out of the FLV file
Cache
A place that stores everything on a web page, including music & videos, but only for a short time
Extension
Letters that follow the dot on a filename. Some computers do not show the extension

How and Why to Clean Your Cache
The cache holds every page you have visited recently. So when you are using CacheViewer to find stuff you are going
to have so much junk to go through. It is better to clear your cache so that when you are searching for your file you can find it more easily.
STEPS: In Firefox Click Tool --> Clear Private Data, Check all the boxes (except saved passwords if you do not want to loose those) and hit ok. If you go to cache viewer right now then there will be nothing there. Consider your cache cleaned.
